An Ancient Birthplace

Nowhere else in the world will you find such a rare treasure trove of pink diamonds, with an intensity of colour that is unmatched by any other stone, than in the east Kimberley.

Nestled in the remote corner of Western Australian, 3040 kilometres from the capital, Perth, exists one of the world’s last great wilderness regions and the extraordinary birthplace of Argyle pink diamonds. It is here, in this hauntingly remote vista, where the billion year odyssey of an Argyle pink diamond begins.

Covering over one million square kilometres, the rugged east Kimberley landscape bears witness to one of the richest natural prehistoric art galleries on Earth, allowing its visitors to connect with one of the oldest surviving cultures in existence. Indigenous rock paintings date back some 60,000 years – that is five times longer than the Egyptian pyramids – providing an invaluable record of the land’s ancient heritage and its people.

The discovery of diamonds in this vastly remote part of the world did not occur until the 1980s, and to this day remains one of the world’s most important diamond discoveries in history. It would result in the establishment of the Argyle Diamond Mine; change the diamond industry forever; and would bring the most coveted of all diamonds to the world – the rare Argyle pink diamond.
